Discussion:
Jonathan Amsterdam and VM2

This is a long-shot request caused by my own stupidity:

In 1985/1986, BYTE Magazine ran a series of articles by Jonathan
Amsterdam on VM2, a virtual machine written in Modula-2, and then a
compiler for this machine. I subscribed then both to the magazine and
to the accompanying paper BYTEnet Listings. Recently, I was clearing
out my storage area and accidentally tossed out the very listings for
those articles.

Has anyone any information on this?

Many scans of Byte were posted on an online forum. Do you need the magazine
itself or something else? If you need the magazine and you can find out
which issues you want then post here again and I'll try and find the links.

Cheers,

Peter

e.g. Programming Project: Building a Computer in Software:

At least some of the other articles in the series are also available on the archive.org site. Unfortunately I do not know where you can get the listings from,

Regards,
Chris

Peter & Chris:

Thank you for your replies and your efforts. I have the actual magazines.

In the 1980s, subscribers to BYTE had the option of subscribing to
BYTEnet Listings, which were printed copies of the source listings
mailed to you semi-annually. There was also a bulletin board made
available but I had no means to use it, so I subscribed to the printed
listings.

The Internet Archive has many scanned BYTE magazines but I could find
none of the listing.

From now on, I double check everything before it goes out.
