Seeking Elder's "Model" code and Modula-2 to C converter
(too old to reply)

I'm looking for two things:

i) the Modula-2 code from John Elder's book (which I have) "Compiler
construction", Prentice Hall, 1994; and
ii) a Modula-2 to C converter (for Win7).

So far as ii) is concerned, here:
http://www.arjay.bc.ca/Modula-2/m2faq.html#4 there is a URL
ftp://ftp.Uni-Koeln.DE/usenet/comp.archives/languages/modula-2/mtc/
under the heading "4.5 Where can I get a Modula-2 to C converter?", but
when I click on it I get a "550 Failed to change directory." error.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Not suprising -- he has not updated his FAQ in quite some time.

You may find the mtc distribution here:
ftp://ftp.psg.com/pub/modula-2/grosch/

I'm an idiot! I have it on a removable disk, and I had just forgotten
where.

Thank you for both of those.

My copy of Elder's book did not come with any source code. Did you
obtain it from the author?

Sort of. I emailed him some years ago and he told me that the source
was on his website (at Queen's, Belfast) and that's where I got it from.
Those web pages have now gone. If you want the source, I'll zip it up
and email it to you, if you wish.

You might try the Wayback Machine on the Internet Archive
(https://archive.org/). Amazing the stuff you can find there!
